I approached Emma feeling extremely anxious about life and a deterioration in my mental well-being brought on by work-related stress. As a former senior manager in the emergency services with high-pressure roles, I was well used to monitoring and dealing with the stresses and hurdles life threw at me. I first met Emma when I was struggling with some personal relationship losses and life changes, which were affecting my physical and mental health. Subsequently, I have needed support and a listening ear as I process the loss of a parent and explore my feelings during my grief process.
